Hand-tied Bouquet
We got a Teleflora order for a girl and they gave us a heads up that she works for one of our competitors in town. So we made it really nice. In the Teleflora picture, it looks like it is hand-tied so that's the way I did it. It looked like a bridal bouquet in a vase. It was super cute.

Head Wreath
This was the weirdest request for me. This lady called and wanted a head wreath for her favorite neice who was getting baptized. She wanted something for her to wear after her baptism. I looked online to figure out HOW to make something like that. Gaye said that the way I found wasn't the way they usually did it but it sounded easier. It just said to take wire and make it the size you want for the head and then make little boutonniere sized clusters with wire and tape and then tape them around the wire. Sounded easy enough. It took most of the day. It was hard to cover the wire and still make it rather small so it wouldn't overtake the little 8 year old's head. I now know how to make a head wreath. :)

Wedding Work

I helped Marianne do the bridesmaid's flowers for a wedding. They were really simple; just 2 gerbs with some greens and a ribbon, but it was still nice to be able to do anything for a wedding. This style is what they usually suggest to brides that don't want to spend too much, but still want their bridesmaids to have some flowers to carry around. This bride was the easiest bride to work with. She was chill and didn't have too much of a preference and wasn't picky at all. I sat in on the consultation.
I have been able to do a wedding consultation though, mostly by myself. It was fun to talk to them about the other types of flowers that are available other than roses and baby's breath. I talked them into stephanotis and freesia with roses and gerbs. Her colors were yellow and white. I just hope that I get to do her bouquet or some of the corsages/bouts or even the guest book sign in arrangement. I think it will look so pretty. I'm excited.
Funeral Work

This all glads one was a favorite.
I helped to do this funeral for a man. I love doing the bigger events, rather than the everyday. It has more purpose and is much more fulfilling. I loved the all glad arrangment. The van was completely full.

This is another funeral for a man. We didn't have the family work (the casket spray and standing spray) but we did have funeral containers from friends and family. There was one more that I wanted to do, but Bruce gave me the afternoon off so I didn't get to finish. It is much harder to do funeral containers for a man than a woman. There aren't very many flowers in manly colors. The last one I was going to do in green, blue and purple.

It's been awhile since I have written and I have no excuse. It's been raining non-stop though so I'm kinda depressed. Jaime has started work. It's been fun to train her. I've only trained her for a day though. It's great to have a friend from the floral program that has gone through it and learned some of the same things I have.

I really enjoy doing short round arrangments. They are my favorite.

I love the orange slice in it!! :)

I worked alone most of the day. Gaye wanted the day off so she got it. She did get a new dog yesterday so I think that might have been part of the reason. :) I did all the day file and the incoming orders. It was pretty fun just taking care of the stuff myself.
Corsage and boutonniere for a 50th Anniversary party for the happy couple. :)
I got to finish cleaning the shelves that I had started yesterday and I dusted the front of the shop with Pledge! You gotta love it!
I got off for the afternoon because I needed it. I just wish that I didn't have to work tomorrow. But I do have Monday off. :) Which is super nice!
I did this dozen red roses with baby's breath in under 10 minutes. The guy was waiting so I did it as fast as I could. I just didn't think it would be that fast. I surprised myself.

While working at a floral shop you see really cute things like "Happy one month anniversary!" and people having babies! Those things just make you smile. Other times you see really sad things like people grieving over lost loved ones. Today we had a sad thing. This girl came in and said her parents were getting a divorce because her mom was having an affair with a guy in utah. Both her mom and the lover boy were leaving their spouses, kids and grandkids. They have only known each other for 3 weeks. The girl came in to get an arrangement for her dad to give to her mom as a "come back to me" bouquet. It was WAY sad!
Tender Thoughts Teacup

I got lilacs and peonies from the Kuhns and got to put them in a vase!! LOVE THEM!

I also saw a "Happy seven month anniversary" from a guy to his fiance. Cute.
We all worked on cleaning today at the shop. Bruce and Cathen worked in the garage/shed and cleaned it out and organized it. I started scrubbing the shelves and organizing vases. I really want to mop the floor sometime but I would have to do it way after closing time.
I worked alone and handled it pretty well, especially during our busy time from 4-5:30.
Jaime came in today and got hired so now I get to train her and have a buddy to work with. Not like I don't like my co-workers now, it will just be fun to have Jaime too!

This is the first dozen roses I have done since the one I did in Flower Center. I think it turned out well. I like the shape, not necessarily the colors and filler.
These next two are part of a 10 set series of $25 each. Madison Middle School was having a retirement party and wanted to give all the ladies that were retiring a $25 arrangment. I tried really hard to make them all different and then they complained when they were different. I don't get people sometimes.

This is my first asian design that I've done for the shop. I really liked it. I'm starting to like orange and purple together more and more.
These two were for mothers who just had babies.

I am known as the wrap queen at the shop. I enjoy doing them because they are easy, fast and cute so I usually do all the wrap orders. Here are a few of my favorites.
A $70 arrangment I did for an anniversary gift.
More Be Happy mugs...They also usually give me the Teleflora orders because I do them the closest to what Teleflora says.
