Dallas Cowboys

Our Dallas Cowboy's arrangement. I guess we do sports arrangements too now! This is exactly what he asked for and he loved it. Everything is color tooled except the carnations and delphinium. The stars on their helmets!

I got to use the orchids from Mother's Day in this arrangment. They are getting old but still look so perfect.

A guy used this to propose last night to his girlfriend. He made her carry it around all night without opening it and then he was going to propose. I'm not sure of the details. It has 2 pink roses inside and 1 white one with some greens. A cute basket arrangement for an older lady's birthday. :)

6/17/2009

Gaye couldn't come in today because she was super sick, and not only that but she didn't have any balance; no equilibrium. We don't know what it is but she's been complaining about being dizzy a lot lately. I feel bad. She sounded terrible on the phone. Marianne came in to the rescue and we worked together all day. She had Weston for the second half because she didn't have a babysitter for the afternoon. It was super busy in the morning until about 12 and then it totally died down to almost nothing. It was good and we got a lot accomplished.
I love this pastel arrangement. This is the same arrangement from Teleflora from two posts ago. We got another one and so I made it. It is really hard to make and make cute, but at least this one wasn't going to a competitor. :) I liked how it turned out though. It could totally be a wedding bouquet.

Maybe that's why they call it Everyday...

This is just some of the arrangements I do a lot, pretty much everyday!
I just love this vase and was really surprised when the guy picked it out. It is $17.95 alone.
One of my most favorite designs. I just love doing arrangements in these bright colored baskets.
Fresh Blossom Potpourri
A happy birthday bouquet that no one else likes to do.
Another happy birthday present bouquet that no one likes to do but me.
I'm getting better at bows!!!
This guy came in right before closing time and wanted an arrangment in a different, keepsake vase. We pulled out a bunch of different kinds and Jaime sold him on the Coke glass (you can't really tell). And then he wanted a Dr. Seuss arrangement. This is what we came up with in his low budget. I think it turned out way fun and exciting. I just wished we had allium. We just tried to do cool shapes, colors and textures to bring out the Dr. Seuss feel.
For a baby girl...
This arrangement went to President Eyring's wife and the next one went to President and Sister Clark who are the president and matron of Brigham Young University-Idaho.

Hand-tied Bouquet

We got a Teleflora order for a girl and they gave us a heads up that she works for one of our competitors in town. So we made it really nice. In the Teleflora picture, it looks like it is hand-tied so that's the way I did it. It looked like a bridal bouquet in a vase. It was super cute.

Head Wreath

This was the weirdest request for me. This lady called and wanted a head wreath for her favorite neice who was getting baptized. She wanted something for her to wear after her baptism. I looked online to figure out HOW to make something like that. Gaye said that the way I found wasn't the way they usually did it but it sounded easier. It just said to take wire and make it the size you want for the head and then make little boutonniere sized clusters with wire and tape and then tape them around the wire. Sounded easy enough. It took most of the day. It was hard to cover the wire and still make it rather small so it wouldn't overtake the little 8 year old's head. I now know how to make a head wreath. :)

Wedding Work

I helped Marianne do the bridesmaid's flowers for a wedding. They were really simple; just 2 gerbs with some greens and a ribbon, but it was still nice to be able to do anything for a wedding. This style is what they usually suggest to brides that don't want to spend too much, but still want their bridesmaids to have some flowers to carry around. This bride was the easiest bride to work with. She was chill and didn't have too much of a preference and wasn't picky at all. I sat in on the consultation.

I have been able to do a wedding consultation though, mostly by myself. It was fun to talk to them about the other types of flowers that are available other than roses and baby's breath. I talked them into stephanotis and freesia with roses and gerbs. Her colors were yellow and white. I just hope that I get to do her bouquet or some of the corsages/bouts or even the guest book sign in arrangement. I think it will look so pretty. I'm excited.

Funeral Work

This all glads one was a favorite.
I helped to do this funeral for a man. I love doing the bigger events, rather than the everyday. It has more purpose and is much more fulfilling. I loved the all glad arrangment. The van was completely full.

This is another funeral for a man. We didn't have the family work (the casket spray and standing spray) but we did have funeral containers from friends and family. There was one more that I wanted to do, but Bruce gave me the afternoon off so I didn't get to finish. It is much harder to do funeral containers for a man than a woman. There aren't very many flowers in manly colors. The last one I was going to do in green, blue and purple.

6/11/2009

It's been awhile since I have written and I have no excuse. It's been raining non-stop though so I'm kinda depressed. Jaime has started work. It's been fun to train her. I've only trained her for a day though. It's great to have a friend from the floral program that has gone through it and learned some of the same things I have.

I really enjoy doing short round arrangments. They are my favorite.

I love the orange slice in it!! :)
